public performance

It is my understanding that there was a case involving a day care center showing videos to children who was sued by the film company (someone like Disney) for not obtaining public performance licenses. I have found good websites with clear explanations of the copyright law governing public performance, but would appreciate knowing if there are any actual case citations.

There are (quite literally) thousands of cases relating to the public performance right. You can go to a local law library and pull the annotate U.S. Code for Title 17, section 101 (definition of public performance).
