Probate Question

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My mother moved from Toledo, Ohio and resided in Georgia for approx a year/year 1/2. She passed approx one year ago in Georgia.  I am in Florida and her lawyer that was handling the her death is in Toledo, Ohio.  My question is in order just to have a lawyer follow up on  the the unclear numbers he came up with, Would I be able to get a lawyer in Fla to follow up or would I need to get a lawyer from Toledo? I am perplexed on which option to go with.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Condolences.

Let's start with a few questions.

1 - Did she have a will?

2 - Where are her assets located?

3 - Has probate been opened in Georgia where she resided? If not, why not?

4 - Why is an Ohio lawyer handling anything when she lived in Georgia?

5 - What is your concern about the "unclear numbers"?

Sorry, but what exactly does "handling the her death" mean?

Not really clear what you mean by this.  Any lawyer, regardless of location, can look at what the Toledo lawyer has done and give you an opinion.  Beyond that, it depends on what exactly the Toledo lawyer is doing.

I agree that answers to the questions that "adjusterjack" asked may prove helpful.
