First Time Offender for a Class A Family Violence/Assault Charge

2 posts in this topic

On Sept. 7th, I was charged with a Class A misdemeanor for Family Violence/Assault. This is my first offense and I'm extremely worried because I do not want to go back to jail once my court date comes. I am highly regretful of what I've done and I'm normally not a violent person AT ALL and feel as if I shouldn't be sentenced to any jail time. I am not a hardened criminal who is built for this kind of lifestyle. Can anyone offer me any advice on what may happen once I show up to court/ will I HAVE to go back to jail??

Based on the single fact that you have been charged with an offense, no none can predict the outcome.  You should consult a local attorney or the public defender if one has been appointed for you.
