Father gets disability.  He is married, living separate from his wife, and the child lives with the mother. His son gets child benefit.  To who's social security number is the child's amount designated? Will SS's 1099 have the income as it is to be reported on a tax return to the father, mother, or child?

Social Security payments made to the child because of a parent’s disability are income to the child, and will be reported on a 1099-SSA with the child's name and SSN. If the child has other income then the child may have to file a return and some or all of the SSA benefits might be taxable. Whether any of the SSA benefits are taxable would depend on the type and amount of the other income the child has.
