Cant find any advise on line

Recommended Posts

Hi I need advise. An Incident happened on school grounds between two minors which I believe was not correctly reported.  What are schools supposed to do to report incidents? Do they need to report to certain authorities? Should the incident be placed in the school records.  Thanks

What state? What was the incident? Any number of "incidents" happen between children on a given day, 99% of which do not carry a legal obligation to report it to any sort of authority.

If you don't like the way it was handled you are free to make your own reports to the school board and to the police.

What did your ex boyfriend do to your daughter on those occasions, where exactly did the happen, and on what dates did they happen.

What sort of "incident" ("2 personal injury by an Ex boyfriend on my daughter" doesn't really explain much)?  What sort of school (I'm guessing middle or high school since you're talking about ex-boy/girlfriends)?  Public or private?

Reported to whom?  What does "not correctly reported" mean (i.e., in what was was the report or the reporting incorrect)?

Depends on the specific facts, the applicable state law, and whether the school is public or private.

What exactly are you hoping to achieve here?

How do you know?  You cannot legally have access to the school's records for a child other than your own.

You are looking for a one-size-fits-all answer and there isn't one. We can't give you advice without knowing what occurred and so far, you have given us nothing to go on. The specific facts matter.

I'm aware.  Unfortunately, you chose not to answer most of the questions that I and the others asked.  That makes it impossible to provide any "advice" or suggestions.

If there is a criminal case that is ongoing, the incident was clearly reported to "somebody" (police). I'm not at all clear what type of report you think the school should have and why, if they do have the incident documented somewhere, you feel that you should be entitled to a copy of that report? Colleges and Universities have the Clery Act which requires disclosure of certain crimes that happen on campus, but that does not extend to K-12.
