Estate Dispersal Service

Recommended Posts

We hired a lady to move our belongings from our home into storage / her consignment shop. She stated in email, that she estimated there was $12,000 - $15,000 worth of sellable items in our home. She rented 2 storage units for our things, and was to be working on selling them off. Once we finally were given the storage location & info, we returned from out of state just to find that the storage was practically empty & she claims that she donated most of it, and we owe her over $1000. We have requested some kind of inventory list showing what was sold or not, but still have gotten nothing. Items, for example, are 93" flat screen tv, atv's, leather couches, etc. What recourse do we have?

Storage and consignment are two extremely different things, and I assume you didn't try to store your stuff at this woman's consignment shop, so please clarify.  Please also clarify your reference to "our home" given the reference in the subject header of your post to an "estate."

You can sue.  Whether or not you have a reasonable chance of winning depends on the relevant facts, most particularly the terms of your contract with this woman.  You had a written contract, right?  It's not clear exactly what you hired this woman to do.
