You can search court records available online for specific areas usually separated by counties. Be careful with the searches, depending on what you are doing a criminal background search for, you may need the subjects permission to conduct a background search.

You could be subject to civil liability (the subject sues you) and/or fines. For instance, some states require you have the subject's permission to conduct background searches for housing rentals and employment.

What happens if I don't have the persons permission?  What circumstances would I need permission?

 

Actually, you don't need permission to search for public records.

 

However, there could be a limitation on how you use those records once you find them.

 

So, why are you looking for those records and how do you plan to use them?
