Parts of Car Repaired - How long to pay

Recommended Posts

I  had a customer bring in some parts for his car that he wanted repaired.  It has been over 30 days and  he has not returned to pay for them,  What can I do at this point to dispose of them.  Can they be sold for payment?  If so what type of notification do I have to attempt to deliver to the customer before doing so.

Hi a1handy,

Sorry to hear about your situation.  As adjusterjack has indicated, you may need to file a tradesman lien against your customer.  However, it may be helpful to first contact him/her and discuss the issue with them directly to see if the issue can be sorted out informally.  If you require assistance in this matter, you may want to consult with a local attorney.  An attorney in your area can be found in the FindLaw directory.

Good luck,
