Workman's Compensation benefit calculation

Recommended Posts

State of North Carolina: When receiving weekly benefits is the calculation on gross or net income. My husband had all of our medical/dental/eye/life insurance deducted from his pre-injury check, now I am getting notices to pay these providers (as I should and will), but it seems to me that even at the reduced benefit amount he is being paid on his net.

Have you looked at his claim papers?

The claim papers should tell you what his "average weekly wage" was at the time of his injury. That should be close to his gross wages but might not be exactly the same.

And then his weekly benefit is 66 2/3 % of his "average weekly wage."

Is it?
