"Government Issued"

My guess is that you are being asked to provide some government issued ID for some purpose. If so, then you really should ask whomever it is that requesting you to provide it what kind of ID they will accept. The term could mean just indentification that is issued to the general public by a government agency, like a driver's license, passport, etc., or could also include ID that issued by a government agency to its employees and contractors. In the U.S., it usually means ID issued by a federal, state or local government and does not include ID issued by some foreign government. Most of the time when I see the phrase "government issued ID" it is followed by a specific list of the ID that the requestor finds acceptable. But if that's not the case here, then ask the requestor so that you are sure to bring with you want they will need. If your question relates to some other context, perhaps if you explain where the phrase appears someone can tell you what is included.
