developer lied

My husband and I are builders and we purchased land in a new development in order to be a part of their builder program. The realtor told us that if we purchased the property they would give us referrals from others who purchased property and we would promoted to prospective clients. They told us that they had numerous lot owners who were ready to build in Oct. 2008.

They have since fired the agent who made the sale to us and said they are not going to have a builders program. Yet they are referring lot owners to a builder that has stake in the development.

Can we sue to have them purchase the lot back? The property is located in Jasper County SC.

Thank you.

You never listen to what folks *tell* you (esp. a realtor); what matters is what a contract says, and whether its terms survive the closing.

Hard to figure out exactly who you mean when you say "they".

Anyone can sue anyone else for anything, but that doesn't mean your contract terms are such that you could force them to refund your money/buy back the lot.

You need to consult with a local real estate attorney.
