Citation help

Is this the correct citation for the following:

Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: article four section three of the U.S. Constitution

U.S. Const. amend V, art. IV § 3

AND

Give the correct citation for the following law journal article.

An article by Douglas J. Gunn entitled Torts-Negligence-The Sudden Emergency Doctrine is abolished in Mississippi, volume 51, page 301 of the Mississippi Law Journal published in 1980.

Do you not have (or have access to) a Blue Book?! If you're taking a class that requires you to cite things correctly, you need to get one.

Your first one makes no sense. Article IV is Article IV, and the Fifth Amendment is something different (and there are no "articles" or "sections" within the Fifth Amendment). If you want to cite Article IV, section 3, the proper citation form is "U.S. Const. art IV, § 3." If you want to cite the Fifth Amendment, the proper form is "U.S. Const. amend. V."

As for the second one, the proper form is Douglas J. Gunn, Torts-Negligence-The Sudden Emergency Doctrine is abolished in Mississippi, 51 Miss. L.J. 301 (1980). The proper short citation form depends on the context.
