A crime becomes grand theft if the amount stolen is over $1,000 in value, a firearm of any value is stolen, the items in question are stolen directly from a person (like a mugging), or the property stolen is cattle, horses, mules, buffalo or captive non-domestic elk.

Receiving stolen property means you came into possession of stolen property when you knew or should have known, given all the circumstances, that it was stolen.
