laws regarding late fees in nh lease for

3 posts in this topic

While some states do have laws that put a cap on what a landlord can charge, New Hampshire is not one of them. The state has no statutes that regulate late fees on rentals. If you agreed in your lease to pay a late fee if rent is not received on the first then that is what you must do. You may wish to visit the FindLaw Tenant Rights section for more information regarding your rights as a tenant. Hope that helps.

I don't know of any law in NH against late fees, but if it's not in the lease agreement, I'd refuse to pay (if a short-term lease, note that landlord can change terms on a rental period's notice). Have you googled New Hampshire landlord tenant?
