My friend went to county jail for driving with a non-valid liscence becuase he just had his Jamaican liscence. He couldn't get bonded out because ICE put a hold on his bond. Turns out his visa was expired he had came here from Jamaica on a work visa. But he was married to a U.S. citizen in 2007, but him and his wife didn't finish his paperwork to start his immigration process because they didn't have the money to pay for it. But then a couple months after they were married she left him & he hasn't talked to her nor seen her since then & he has no way of contacting or finding her. He was in the county jail for about a month, then they took him to KROME in Miami for a couple weeks, then they moved him to where he is currently being held in Glades County Jail in Moore Haven, FL which is another immigration contracted holding facility. They gave him a $1,500 bond so he could get bonded out, but his family and friends are still a couple hundred dollars short of $1,500. After 1 month, they extended his time to get bonded out for another month. His next court date is November 18, 2009, but his family isn't sure if they will have the rest of the money by then. My question is will they deport him if he doesn't get bonded out by his next court date? If not, how long can he be there waiting to get bonded out? He has been in jail for over 3 months because of this.
