If another co worker threatens you physically and verbally and if i am being harrassed at work by different coworkers do i have a legal claim of sorts? i do not feel free to do my job due to a hostile work environment and have reported the problem and i get fired what types of recourse do i have?

You don't say exactly what you mean by "threatens you physically and verbally ...."  If the person is putting their hands on you, obviously, you call the cops.  If they're threatening to do X-Y-Z and you supposedly fear for what will happen, you call the cops.  So ... what did the cops have to say?  Have you sought a restraining order? 

The employer isn't obligated to fire this person or re-assign them to avoid your interaction with them, and you don't bother to mention what the employer has to say about this.  If the person hurts you at work, obviously you're free to file a workers' comp claim and also a separate claim against this individual.

The employer isn't obligated to act in the place of law enforcement.
