Question from confusedinoregonNov-2
My husband was ticketed for DUI four years ago in Oregon.  He's trying to get his license back.  Is there a statute of limitations on tickets for DUI?

What happened to the charges?  If he failed to appear on them, it's likely a warrant is out for his arrest and warrants NEVER expire.  The statute of limitations sets out how long the state has to initiate prosecution and can be satisfied by the simple issuance of a ticket particularly where the defendant signed and agreement to appear and then didn't.  He'd be wise to consult local counsel.

he was hospitalized as a result of the accident and never signed a ticket.  He was on probation and his PO never said anything about any warrants.  (he never brought it up).  He has since satisfied his probation obligation and nothing was ever said.

Regardless of the circumstances, if your husband was ticketed for a DUI offense and he never appeared, I guarantee you there is a warrant for failure to appear.

He does not need to sign the ticket to make it a valid ticket

It is not his parole officers job to tell him. He probably should have, but it is not required

The state will suspend his license for the DUI offense, after he clears up the DUI fine and warrant

And even if he did get his license, no insurance would cover him other than a high risk policy which could run into the thousands of dollars for the policy.

He needs to hire a lawyer that specializes in DUI cases.
