Question from vegas2318Nov-3
ok I'm dating this girl who is scared out of her mind because the father of her two children is threatening to take them away from her because of me. I'm bipolar and i take medications and i go to all my doctor appointments. we live in Ohio they were never married they only had two kids together. Now her and i have a child on the way. now my question is what exactly can he do about her dating me with me being bipolar? And can he get my medical records to take to court to hold against her? all the info you can give me would be very grateful and if you can point me in the right direction to getting this info in writing because she wont believe it unless its in writing.

For the first question your medical records are confidential and cannot be seen unless you sign a release. If he attempts to try to take her to court I would say he is discriminating  against  you because of  your medical condition. That is a violation of your civil rights. Do you have any past civil or criminal record which would pose a risk to your being around the children? Even if there were, how are you doing now and will your doctor write a letter on your behalf if necessary? He may try calling the Dept. of  Social Services for children and they would investigate if there was good cause only. I would suggest you call them up to see if they can answer your questions with more detail.Keep your doctor appointments and do as your doctor prescribes. He sounds like he is trying to bully you into misbehavior. Stay strong and see a family lawyer or legal aid.Good luck and God Bless you and your family.
