Question from kyle32Oct-31
I am 17 years old and will be 18 in 3 months I live in Iowa. I have had it living with my parents. I was wondering what the law is for being able to move out and live with my girl friend parents or a cousin of mine. Right now I don't have a job cause of high school sports but can easily get one. If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it!

Technically, you cannot move out of your parents' house without their permission until you are 18.  However, if you do anyway, depending on circumstances and Iowa law your parents might have to jump through some hoops to get you back.  Will they go to the trouble and possible expense?  You know them better than we do.  (And if they do, will things be even worse than they were before?)

In any case, you only have three months to go.  You ought to be able to put up with them for that much longer.  Just a word to the wise.
