I own a company established for 19 years which is currently on the market for sale. The majority of our customers and a number of companies I am marketing the business to belong to an association called the Petroleum Equipment Institute. They have an online forum which a vendor of mine has created a post title "WATCH OUT FOR SCAM ARTIST". To date the post has been read 164 times in an industry where news spreads very fast. He created the post because I was late paying a bill, at the time app 38-39 days. Since then the bill has been paid. I have had 2 prospective buyers that where very close to purchasing my company back out since his post was published & have also seen a significant drop in sales.
I realize libel cases are difficult, but am wondering if there is a case here as I am sure this has seriously affected me financialy. Links to his post can be forwarded if asked for.
It would be impossible to find a single person I have done business with over the past 19 years that I have scammed or cheated as it has never happen.
Also if there is a case here do you know ballpark wise what it would cost innitialy to get started?
