Recently, I was apprised of a new "law" in Florida that says you must go through mediation before being granted a divorce.

Is this correct?

A quick google search suggests that no such requirement exists.


I suggest you contact the person who "apprised" you about this supposed "new law" and ask him or her for a citation to the specific provision in the Florida Statutes (or wherever else this person thinks this law exists).  If the person is unable to provide you with such a citation, ask him/her how exactly it is that he/she knows about this supposed "new law."  If you're so inclined, I'd be curious to read about whatever response you get.
